The New England Center for Children announced that they have received $214,410 raised through the annual Carlos Placido Dunkin’ Donuts Golf Classic. At a check presentation event held last week at NECC, Dunkin’ Donuts business owners and executives presented the check and the Dunkin’ Donuts Culinary Team held a donut decorating event for students. Funds will benefit education, research, and technology development for children with autism.
“The New England Center for Children is honored to receive this donation from the Carlos Placido Dunkin’ Donuts Golf Classic, which will go far in supporting our mission to transform the lives of children with autism worldwide through education, research and technology,” said Jared Bouzan, NECC Chief Development Officer. “The local Dunkin’ Donuts business owners have been instrumental in helping raise much-needed funds to support worldwide education and skills development for children with autism, educational research dissemination, and NECC staff professional development.”
The Golf Classic has been a tremendous success raising more than $2 million for NECC over the past 21 years.
“We are proud to support the efforts of The New England Center for Children in their mission to provide innovative educational services for children with autism and to help them acquire the skills they need to be as independent as possible,” said Neal Faulkner, who founded the Golf Classic and is a Dunkin’ Donuts business owner and NECC Board member. “Improving the lives of children with autism and bringing autism awareness to our communities is tremendously meaningful.”
Dunkin’ Donuts business owners participating in the check presentation included Carlos Andrade, Neal Faulkner, Angelo Moutoudis, Konse Scrivanos, and Dinart Serpa. Dunkin’ Donuts Chief Operating Officer Scott Murphy was also on hand. Accepting the check for NECC was President and CEO Vincent Strully, Jr., along with NECC students. Board Member Dr. Alan Lobovits, Chief Development Officer Jared Bouzan, Executive Director Cathy Welch, and NECC parents were on hand to support the event.
Following the check presentation, Mike Brazis, Director of Global Culinary Innovation at Dunkin’ Brands, and Kelly German, Sr. Technologist in R&D, celebrated with NECC students by decorating donuts with frosting, sprinkles and other toppings.
“Dunkin’ did a really good job delivering the donuts to decorate and bringing a big check,” said NECC student Colin, who has autism. “I wish I could decorate donuts again.”
