On Friday, November 2nd, the St. Mark’s boys’ varsity soccer team will play Tabor Academy in their final home game, while also fundraising for The New England Center for Children (NECC). Both St. Mark’s and NECC are located in Southborough, MA. For five years, the soccer team has created T-shirts and sold them at their final home game to raise funds for various charities. In the past the team has donated proceeds of sales to the American Cancer Society, the Semper Fi Fund, and Veterans Inc.
Over the years, St. Mark’s School, including students and student athletes, have been working more closely with teachers and students at NECC to learn about educating children with autism, and to help NECC student athletes develop athletic skills for Special Olympics.
“We hope that our students gain an appreciation for and an understanding of why it is important to engage in the community and to offer our support local programs. It has been a great experience that allows them to connect with something outside of school,” said Jason Eslick, one of St. Mark’s soccer coaches.
You can support St. Mark’s boys’ varsity soccer and The New England Center for Children by attending their home game on November 2 and purchasing a T-shirt. T-shirts may also be ordered online.
