Self-Paced Training for Those Educating Individuals with Cognitive and Social Differences

Southborough, Mass. – March 26, 2018 – The New England Center for Children® (NECC®), a global leader in education for children with autism, announced today the availability of ABAplus, a new online learning program for professionals based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). ABAplus is a self-paced, modular learning program to train staff and educators in the treatment of individuals with cognitive and behavioral learning differences.

“ABAplus is based on NECC’s 40-plus years of experience training staff to implement the principles of ABA,” said Vincent Strully, Jr., President and CEO of NECC. “We are excited to offer this new platform for professional learning and to share our knowledge with other educators. Users of ABAplus are accessing content that has been proven to be successful in building staff skills in behavior analysis.”

NECC has long been a leader in the research and propagation of ABA best practices, having received both the Award for Enduring Programmatic Contributions in Behavior Analysis and the Award for International Dissemination of Behavior Analysis from the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis (SABA).

ABAplus is currently available in two versions, a Registered Behavior Technician® (RBT®) training program and an Introduction to ABA training program. The RBT training program includes 40 hours of online learning modules that meet the requirement for staff pursuing certification as an RBT. The content is based on the RBT Task List established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® (BACB®). Individuals who complete the training must also follow the required supervision, assessment, and exam guidelines outlined by the BACB. The RBT program is for staff who are responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services. Pricing for the RBT training program starts as low as $50 per person for Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia® Software System (ACE®) clients (www.acenecc.org). Group discounts are also available.

The Introduction to ABA training program is based on NECC’s decades of experience providing introductory training to staff working in both private school and public school settings.  The Introduction to ABA program includes 25 hours of introductory content appropriate for paraprofessionals and general educators new to providing behavior analytic services. Topics include an introduction to ABA and autism spectrum disorder; reinforcement and preference assessments; data collection; teaching procedures; and preventing and reducing challenging behavior. Pricing for the Introduction to ABA training program starts as low as $40 per person for ACE clients. Group discounts are also available.
